Spring Ahead

Well well well, we meet again, March. Can you behave yourself this year, your behavior in 2020 was appalling. With widespread vaccination moving forward, I can only hope for brighter days ahead.

I can’t believe that one year ago, in the span of a week I went from asking my patients if they had traveled internationally to China to asking if they had traveled outside their front door. I don’t think any of us had any idea how drastically our live would change over the course of a few weeks.

As a frontline worker, I didn’t have to work from home and have never had to be quarantined due to an exposure. And 2020 was very challenging for me mentally and emotionally, work-wise. So I like to focus on all the good things that came out of 12 months of pandemic life.

  • Adopting Frank. He has been the most wonderful addition to our little pack and we can’t imagine life without him.

  • Purchasing our camper. This was something we had been exploring for months and since travel became damn near impossible, we cancelled all our trips and decided that 2020 would be the year we spent all our vacation time camping.

  • Enjoying the outdoors. In Wisconsin we are very lucky to have some very wonderful state parks and trail systems, so we took full advantage of several of them for both hiking and camping. The dogs love it, too!

  • Working on our home. There were tons of projects that we had put off that we finally had time to do. B was working from home from March until June, so especially when the weather was nice we were motivated to work on our yard. This has continued and we are currently renovating our upstairs, more posts to come on that!

  • Decluttering our stuff. B and I took multiple opportunities over the past year to really go through a lot of what we have accumulated in our home (we’ve been here for 10 years already!) and trash/recycle/donate. I use Poshmark to list items that are able to be sold (I’ll link my closet below!) and I also utilize Half Price Books to sell books that are culled from my shelves.

  • Creativity. I’ve got tons of ideas for this blog (home renovation, nursing, book reviews, travel and packing posts, etc) and my goal is to have that translated into more regular posting. We also had some fun opportunities to do painting classes (hosted on Zoom) and both B and I really made the effort to cook at home more, which meant lots of hits and a fair few misses.

What are some positive things that have come out of the last year for you? Share them in the comments!
