Growing Out The Grey
I have been coloring my hair for the last 10+ years. While my natural color is kind of a watered down brown, I was always going for a rich auburn color. Every 10-12 weeks I would drop close to $100 for color that would look great for a week or two and then start washing out. I tried balayage - yeah that didn’t go great, it wasn’t done well and it took forever to grow out. At the beginning of 2022, I noticed a few silvery hairs at my roots and when I went to make a hair appointment, I decided to say screw it and stop coloring my hair.
On Instagram, I was able to find so much awesome grey hair inspiration from younger women who went grey/silver in their 30s and decided I would just embrace it. There is really something to be said for accepting the aging process, because let’s face it, if you’re not aging you’re dead!
As my silvery grey strands multiply and I find more of them when I’m drying and straightening my hair, I love how they are blending in with my brown strands and how je ne said quoi I feel regarding my hair. I’ve invested in all moroccanoil products for my hair on the recommendation of my hair stylist which has helped my hair become stronger and shinier. I also find myself feeling more confident the more I embrace this natural change in my hair.
