I've Got a Case of the Mondays
Today was one of those Mondays where I woke up to my alarm and was all "Nope!" and did not want to actively participate in anything. Which becomes a problem when I have to work.
Speaking of work, I'm working 4 out of 5 days this week. And it's been a long time since I've done that. Granted its 8 hours (today and tomorrow), 4 hours on Wednesday, and 12 hours on Friday. But still. I also have two exams to study for and part of my nutrition class project to turn in. So it's definitely a busy week!
This past weekend, B and I were both off of work so we decided to take advantage of that and get some little things done around the house. One thing on my to-do list was to hang up this painting that I brought home from my trip to Europe in 2005. I bought it from a street artist outside of Sacre Coeur (that is the church depicted in the painting). I had originally given it to my mom, who had it matted and framed, but when she redid her bedroom it didn't quite fit in with the new color scheme so she gave it back to me. It looks so pretty hanging at the top of our stairs.
On Saturday night my best friend and I went to a latin restaurant called
Antigua for dinner. Not only were the margaritas amazing (she had a guava margarita and it was sooooooo good!) but the food was to die for.
I ordered the tequila cream salmon (there was a choice of chicken or salmon) served on a bed of avocado (SOLD!) with cilantro rice on the side. The cream sauce on the salmon was so delicious; it had jalapeños sliced up in it to add a little bit of a kick, but the flavors complemented the salmon very well. I had never had cilantro rice and I think I prefer it to the usual Mexican-style rice normally served. Anything with avocado is an automatic win in my book.
After coming home from dinner, B had one of his friends over to watch some concerts on Apple TV. Riley and I curled up on the couch with some wine and the Olympics and my nutrition homework. Clearly, our house is quite the party on a Saturday night.
Sunday mornings are just made for brunch. That must be why they exist, right? B and I joined some friends at
Cafe Hollander for brunch and Bloody Marys. I ordered The Milwaukeean, which is my favorite one at Hollander. It is horseradish-infused vodka served with bacon and cheese. I also indulged in the cinnamon streusel french toast, which is TO DIE FOR. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
My new favorite lip combination: LUSH's The Kiss lip gloss (it's more of a balmy consistency with a pink tint to it) and Dior's lipgloss in 576 Bed of Roses. The Kiss is limited edition for Valentine's Day, so get thee to a LUSH store and pick one up!
I saw this on Instagram this morning and it just spoke to me. I had a lot of trouble getting to sleep last night; it was one of those nights where I simply couldn't get comfortable, kept tossing and turning, then looked at several Instagram accounts that have gorgeous photos (
Corals and Cognacs,
Nicolette Mason, and
Damsel in Dior) and before I knew it I only had 3 hours of sleep before heading off to work. So Starbucks was an absolute MUST today. But I showed up to work ready to bring it! Because that's the only way to be.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! If you recap your weekend, leave your link down in the comments!
