What I’m Loving - June 2023

So every happy that this month included days at the beach in Florida, a wonderful girls trip that will hopefully be repeated in the future, and a mini vacation with my family. This is the most sunlight I’ve seen in many months and I have to say it was awesome! July is going to bring lots of changes which I am SO very ready for!

Here’s some of the things I loved this month!

Watching:

As I am feeling tons of envy towards everyone who is hanging out in Paris this summer, I re-watched Emily in Paris and god damn, it was just as entertaining the first time. I am totally aware that it’s meant to be cheeky and completely not serious, although I absolutely love Sylvie’s character, especially her “I don’t give a f***” attitude and her style.

Reading:

I discovered David Lebovitz when I picked up his cookbook My Paris Kitchen, which to be honest I haven’t cooked anything from yet but it’s beautifully put together and photographed. He wrote a few other books, including The Sweet Life In Paris and L’Appart, both about his experiences living in Paris as an American. I love his style of writing and in The Sweet Life In Paris he also includes recipes! The chapters are quick and witty, so this has been a very easy summer backyard read.

Planning:

Our big garden project this year was putting in the vegetable garden in the upper. right of this. photo. I want our backyard to be this wonderful serene space. This year I didn’t go crazy (unlike my garden in 2020, where I went kind of nuts but also it was 2020 and that year just doesn’t count, right?) and stuck to a handful of plants: jalepeños, banana peppers, habaneros, crunchy kale, snap beans, zucchini, cucumber, and red tomatoes. The wood we used to create the garden was all from when we deconstructed the strawberry patch after we moved into our house in 2010 and left outside for the past 13 years. I love how weathered and “been there forever” it looks. The garden arch was picked up at Menards (similar on Amazon) and I moved some of the rose bushes that had spread along that whole back area of the photo at the base of the arch - my hope is that they will re-root and then vine up the arch. I’ll be sure to post some updated photos as the garden grows!

Wearing:

I’m going to be starting a new job in a clinic soon, so I had to order some scrub sets and of course had to grab some FIGS! I picked the weathered denim and charcoal plus I got them on a great sale a few weeks ago when they were doing a “night shift sale” so everything was 25% off! Highly recommend FIGS scrubs, especially their joggers scrubs pants.

What did you love in the month of June and what are you looking forward to in July?
