What I’m Loving - February 2024

According to the small mammal that we consult to determine if spring will come early or late, spring will be arriving early and I eagerly await that day, since there have been a fair number of weeks where it seemed like here in Wisconsin we didn’t see the sun at all. Although there wasn’t nearly as much snow as we have gotten in years past, winter is my least favorite time of year so I never feel bad leaving it in the rearview mirror.

Reading:

Champagne or bubbles are my drinks of choice when it comes to alcohol, so I am so interested in learning more about the woman behind one of the world’s most well-known champagne brands, Veuve Clicquot. Learning about women who history was ready to forget is fascinating to me. If she had been a man there would have been a multitude of information about her, but women are not afforded that luxury in history. I’m loving this book so far.

Watching:

I’m not going to sit here and act like I know anything about the stock market, but this Netflix movie about the GameStop stock buy-up and how a bunch of average people made a bunch of money and took down a hedge fund firm. This is a great movie and one that I recommend people watch even if you, like me, don’t understand anything about the stock m market.

Eating:

One of my favorite local restaurants to go to, in the heart of downtown West Allis, is Camino. They have great cocktails, lots of tap. beer, and amazing food, My favorite item on their menu is their pierogi - daily they have potato and cheddar as well as cabbage along with a daily special pierogi. They come in an order of 5 with horseradish cream sauce and beer mustard (both are delicious but the beer mustard is amazing!) And if you are local, they do half price pierogi on Sundays - the perfect excuse to go there for brunch!
