What I’m Loving - January

I’ve been sharing a weekly-ish roundup of things I’m loving for the past few years. Moving into 2021, I’m going to make this more of a monthly recap of what I love, new finds, great books/movies/shows/podcasts, local businesses, and amazing gifts. I’m always looking for new inspiration and would love to know your favorite things of the month, so please leave them in the comments!

I got this book as a Christmas gift and I absolutely love it! Trigger warning, there is mention of suicide. The Midnight Library follows Nora, who regrets all the decisions she makes, or rather, doesn’t make, but get a chance to see how all those decisions would have played out. Trying not to spoil it, but I love Matt Haig’s writing and this book brought me to tears. Also please follow him on IG, he’s a gem!

In the past year I have really taken a look at my wardrobe and have really gotten into thrifting and finding secondhand gems. Though Mel Soldera (a Canadian fashion YouTuber who has a WICKED vintage handbag collection) I found Karen, who is a Brit that lives in NYC, has an amazing sense of style and does tons of videos about finding awesome vintage. She and her husband, who is American, live in a super cool townhouse that they are renovating. If you’re looking for fashion and interior design inspo, check her out!

I received the Milwaukee Tool M12 Women’s Softshell Heated Jacket for Christmas this year and as someone who lives in the cold-ass Midwest, this is a game changer. It is lightweight but still warm, water-resistant, and of course comes with a charger for the battery that operates the heat element. There are three levels - cool, warm, and hot, as well as hand warmers in the pockets.

To note, this comes with the battery charger but NOT the battery.

I am very petit, 5 ft 1.5 in and 100-ish lbs and the small size fits me perfectly. Not too tight so I can still wear a sweatshirt underneath and the seaming at the sides accentuates my waist and hips so I don’t look boxy.

As someone who works in a busy ER and doesn’t drink nearly as much water as I should - this has been exacerbated by the whole wearing multiple masks for my shifts - I’m always looking for an awesome water bottle. Enter BKR. These are glass water bottles that come in three sizes - 250 mL, 500 mL, and 1L - and have interchangeable silicone holders. I have two other ones - a 500 mL that says “Fuck Plastic Water Bottles” in French and a 1L “Queen of Fucking Everything”. I recently added this 1L Spiked BKR in the color Colette. What I love about the Spiked sleeve is that it is much easier to grip because of the silicone spikes and since my joints everywhere ache all winter long, I don’t worry about dropping it at all.

If you are interested in checking out BKR, I have a link that gives you $10 off a $50 purchase (which is really easy, lol). Full disclosure, I get a $10 referral credit if you use my link.

I hope your first month of 2021 is better than the entirety of 2020!
