Vintage Furniture Finds
I mentioned over the summer that I was really getting into sourcing vintage items for my home. Now that I’m solidly in my mid-30’s, I have been taking a more curated approach to decorating areas of my home. We are in the midst of doing a remodel to our upstairs that involves turning our third bedroom into a “den” with space to sit and read as well as space for B’s computer so he can migrate up from the basement. We are also transforming our landing upstairs into a sort of “dressing room” area for me since our bedroom closet barely fits B’s clothing (and it’s not like he has a ton!).
Over the last several months I’ve been on the hunt for a few special pieces which I’ll be sharing today. They were all sourced from local antique and vintage stores - I will leave that info below as well!
This vintage Victorian cabinet was purchased from Good Land Antiques in Bayview, WI. I spied it on their Instagram page and it was listed as sold - I made a comment lamenting that I was looking for something just like this and the owner commented and let me know that the sale had fallen through. I paid online and zipped to Bayview to pick it up. It’s solid wood with heavy AF marble on the top. The drawer hardware is original brass (although it needs a good shine up!) and the inside is open on the right and has two shelves on the left.
I plan to use this to store all my vintage jewelry (I inherited quite a bit of my great aunt’s jewelry when she moved into a nursing home - she was a stylish lady!) as well as some of my handbags.
This Victorian loveseat is also from Good Land Antiques. I took this picture in maybe July? when I was out antiquing with my mom (who is also probably the only person who reads this blog, lol) and fell in love with this seat. However, I have two ridiculous cattle dogs and was convinced that they would destroy this. SO I talked myself out of it at the time but kept looking at this picture of it that I took that day. On a whim, I messaged the owner of Good Land Antiques in October and asked if there was any chance she still had it and she did! I snatched it up so fast and she also knocked some money off because I was a repeat customer!
The most recent addition to my vintage furniture finds is this amazing wicker chair that I bought from Ormson Supply in Bayview, WI. I’ve been on the hunt for something similar to a peacock chair but if you’ve seen those, you know they are HUGE and there’s no way that would fit on my landing. This little cutie is about 30 inches tall and has an 18 inch seat. While the tropical cushions are cute, they don’t fit with the aesthetic I’m going for so I ordered some faux fur cushion covers as well as new cushions on Amazon. Ormson Supply has so much cool vintage and mid century modern furnishings and decor - can’t wait to do some more hunting at their store!
I’ve got my eye on some more local antique stores including Farm Girl Art and Antiques (Facebook & Instagram) as well as Antiques on Pierce, which is literally a 5 floor warehouse that is chock full of antiques and cool finds!
