Embracing Change

Well hello there.

The last three months have been so busy. Between orientation in my new job Monday thru Friday doing the whole 40 hours a week thing plus picking up hours in the ED (no, I couldn’t stay away permanently so I’m PRN for now) things around here have been quite busy. We had two weddings back to back weekends in September, B was out of town in October plus we had a long camping weekend…my schedule has been jam-packed to say the least.

The transition from bedside nurse to a procedure nurse has been a huge learning curve. I will share more about that in a future post, but let’s just say that despite really loving my new department, I spent a lot of time feeling simply exhausted by the amount of knowledge I was gaining and everything I was learning. At the end of the day, making sure I was still present for my family (as much as I was able to be) and getting enough sleep became the priority. I’ve been orienting on day shift which has also been a change and I didn’t get a good sleep-schedule flip prior to starting so my sleep schedule has been all over the place. I’m very excited to be going back to night shift soon!

I’ve been brainstorming content for this blog for 2022, including sharing our upstairs remodel (crossing my fingers that we may have it finished before February!), European travel, some handbag and book reviews, as well as bringing some nursing content to you as well.

Thanks for sticking with me!
