After falling down a YouTube rabbit hole of chateaux in France and the English/American chatelains who own and maintain them, I decided to bring a little bit of that French aesthetic to my home.

I am still a person that loves having books and magazines to reference as inspiration, in addition to online sources such as Pinterest.

I love both of these books for awesome visual inspiration! Another tip - hit up the bargain books section of Barnes and Noble or the interior design section of your local bookstore or Half Price Books! I found a great coffee table book with amazing photos of French homes for only $20 at Barnes and Noble a few weeks ago!

One source of inspiration that is particularly close to home is Angela from The Parisienne Farmgirl. She is a fellow Wisconsinite/Francophile who lives in Door County.

Angela has a beautifully curated Instagram and she also has some great information as well as recipes in her cookbook. I especially love that she combines so much Midwestern charm with a French farmhouse twist.

I have mentioned in a previous post (I think in a Friday Love List post) that I absolutely love and am so inspired by Stephanie Jarvis and her home, the 16th century Chateau de Lalande. She chronicles chateau life on her YouTube channel The Chateau Diaries.

She also has an amazing Instagram account, both personal and the official chateau account, that is very visually inspiring. Something that I have really liked from consuming her content is that she loves to mix brocante finds, vintage items, and things that she makes to really bring that French feeling to every aspect of the chateau and it seems quite homey for such a stately residence.
