What I'm Loving This Week

Reading:
I've been looking for French-themed inspiration in home decor, clothing/fashion, and life in general. Ever since I took French in high school, I've been fascinated by the je ne sais quoi attitude of the French people. The magazine My French Country Home was started by Sharon Santoni, who is a Brit living in France on a beautiful estate. She has also written a few books about living and entertaining in France - My Stylish French Girlfriends and My French Country Home: Entertaining Through The Seasons. I find so much inspiration from French culture and history - I also have more books on order for home decor inspiration!

Listening:
In keeping with the French theme, I started listening to season 3 of Revolutions Podcast, which is hosted by Mike Duncan (the husband of a friend of mine and author of The Storm Before The Storm). He does a great job of explaining all the events that led up to the French Revolution and I love that the episodes are relatively short, so you don't get information overload, which is easy when talking about historical events when there are lots of names, dates, and places being thrown around.
Watching:
I was browsing YouTube a few weeks ago looking for Parisian apartment tours and stumbled across Tiffanie Davis, an expat from NYC living in Paris. She has a great channel that really shows life in Paris especially now, post-lockdown. Her videos about moving to another country and accomplishing your goals are fantastic.
Shopping:
My mom is big into antique shopping (Hi, Kat!) and I started going with her just recently. In Milwaukee there are a decent amount of antique stores (I will be doing a post coming up on some of my favorites) and the one that she first took me to and is my favorite is Farm Girl Art and Antiques on 5th and National. Everything is merchandised so beautifully so you can actually get an idea of how to use or decorate with the items and the prices are fantastic! I found some great dishes, a print of the Eiffel Tower from the '70's, and a brass-edged display cabinet that will be perfect for putting all my great aunt's vintage jewelry in! If you are in the Milwaukee area, definitely check her out!
