Changes

In the past year since I got my first job as a Registered Nurse, I have been exposed to so much in the world of nursing. Having spent almost 7 years in acute care as a CNA, I feel like I went into nursing with a decent base of knowledge so my first year as a nurse, I was able to spend a lot of time focusing on my practice and not really having to develop skills like delegating and time management. I already did so much of that as a CNA.

Working with trauma patients is a special kind of nursing, especially since we are the ones helping them heal not just physically, but mentally. I can say that I love working in trauma and set a new goal for myself that in the next five years, I would be working in the trauma bay at my current hospital, which is a Level 1 Trauma Center.

As a first step towards this goal, I accepted a position in the ED/Observation Unit and will be transferring mid-August. I am so excited for this new adventure and super grateful for the opportunities that my hospital continues to offer me.

Here's to new adventures!
