What I’m Loving - October

Hello spooky season! October has been a moderately enjoyable month here in Wisconsin, especially since we ended the month with 70+ degree days and lots of sunshine! This doesn’t happen in the fall very often so I definitely appreciated it!

The next few weeks bring lots of exciting events - B’s best friend is getting married (both of us are standing up in the wedding) and then we are off to Europe for a little adventure! I haven’t been overseas since 2017 and B has never been, so we are both thrilled at the prospect of two weeks exploring two of my favorite cities in the world - London and Paris! Lots of travel-related content coming up so make sure to watch this space! I’ll also be posting tons on my Instagram while we are gone so make sure to follow me!

Reading:

My Royal Family reading obsession has continued and this book by Katie Nicholl, who is one of the correspondents for Vanity Fair that covers the Royal Family, came out at the beginning of the month. I’ve been taking it in small chunks since I’m also reading a few other books as well that are spooky-season themed, but I do like her writing style and feel like she isn’t as tangential as Tina Brown was in The Palace Papers.

In preparation for my trip, I’ve also been reading Rick Steves’ Europe 101. This book is a great, concise look at European history and art, giving meaning and context to some of the places and things I will be seeing. I really enjoy Rick Steves’ guidebooks and use them for all my European vacations - if you’ve never read them or seen his TV show, they are definitely worth checking out!

Watching:

Since I’m so excited about returning to London, I’ve been binge watching all three seasons of Ladies of London (although season 3 was kind of meh in my opinion). I could only dream to live somewhere like London and love having the city as the backdrop to the show. I also love Marissa Hermer, the Californian expat who married British restauranteur Matt Hermer (he used to own the nightclub Boujis, which is where the Royals used to hang all the time). I love her style and her home, oh my gosh. Her renovated Chelsea Mews house is my literal dream.

Wearing:

I love a good headband and when a friend of mine from the ER shared some of the headbands from Repeated Rhythms with me, I was hooked. Handmade here in Southeast Wisconsin, the owner has three styles of headbands as well as scrunchies and hair clips. I wanted some more scrunches to wear at work so I picked up two solids and two prints as well as this Let’s Flamingle headbands - my niece is obsessed with flamingos! The fabric its buttery soft and I love wearing these to work!
