What I’m Loving - May 2024
Well well well…look what the cat dragged in. (It’s me, I’m what the cat dragged in.)
I had an unexpected hiatus last month and have been struggling with a lack of inspiration, although now that it seems summer (however rainy) has come to Wisconsin, I hope that I will be in more of a mood to post more often. I have several exciting things coming up, including a trip to France in September. I’m trying to come up with a fun way to share my carry on essentials and how I’m packing in only a carry-on for an 8 day international trip - so stay tuned!

Reading:
I found this author and book while perusing EveryDay Parisian’s instagram, where Rebecca shared a preview of this book and I just knew I had to pick it up. There is just something about reading the experiences of expats that really speaks to me, as I have a dream of being able to live in Paris. I am finding this an incredibly enjoyable read and definitely recommend it to any Francophile!
Watching:
For all of us kids who grew up in the late 80s/early 90s, watching Reading Rainbow was a regular activity. I loved reading from a very young age and discovered so many different beloved books through Reading Rainbow. Also, LeVar Burton is a national treasure and really exuded the calmness and innocence that connected with a whole generation of kids to instill a love of reading. This documentary is so awesome and had me near tears multiple times. Highly recommend!
Eating:
If you are local in Milwaukee or visiting, please do yourself a favor and have brunch at Story Hill BKC. Their menu is small but solid and their crêpes are chef’s kiss. This is the Berries, Banana, and Cream Crêpe, which is my favorite, but they also have a Crêpe Monsieur, a Crêpe-uritto, and a rotation of specialty crêpes - when we were there recently they had a pierogi-themed crêpe which my friend had and it was delicious! For those who need to do gluten free, their crêpes are available gluten free!
Wearing:
Okay, I will be the first to admit I’m a sucker for kitsch. And this hair clip shaped like a croissant is so dam cute! It is also a great size and actually holds my hair without any slipping, so that is a plus. Aerie has a bunch of other styles of this clip, including a hot dog, a slice of pizza, and an ice cream cone. Are these necessary purchases? No. Are they fun and adorable? Absolutely.
