What I’m Loving - January

This month has brought bitingly cold temperatures as well as an end to the first month of 2022. While it seems like the effects of the pandemic will charge on through this year, I”m trying to look at the bright side and plan plenty to look forward to this year.

Watching:

We are planning a trip to Europe later this year and I am always looking for packing tips and tricks. I found Sarah Murdoch through her packing travel talk when she worked for Rick Steves and have continued to follow her adventures on her social media. She has been all over Europe since the pandemic started and has been sharing her tips on traveling and why now is actually a good time to travel.

Follow her on IG and Facebook and stoke your travel dreams!

Reading:

The first book of 2022 that I read and actually liked is Half Sick of Shadows by Laura Sebastian. This book follows Elaine, a Seer who grows up on Avalon with Arthur, the boy who is destined to be king and tells his story from her perspective. Classified as Young Adult, the story tells the Arthurian legend as a story of teenagers who are tasked with helping Arthur take his throne. This was a quick read that I really enjoyed and a full review will be forthcoming, stay tuned!

Watching:

An archivist takes a job restoring damaged videotapes and gets pulled into the vortex of a mystery involving the missing director and a demonic cult.

I found this show while perusing Netflix for a good suspense/thriller to watch. The show follows Dan, who works as an archivist for photos and video, in a job to restore video tapes damaged in a fire at an apartment building. He then finds out that there’s something sinister being captured and it all messes with his mind.

I really liked this show and found it to be the right amount of suspense without being overly gory/horror, because I’m too much of a chicken to watch that kind of stuff. Definitely worth a watch if you like thrillers and mysteries.
