What I’m Loving - April

Every month that passes and I don’t do regular posting on here, I feel like a bit of a failure. April was an extremely busy month for us - I worked almost every weekend, we celebrated our niece’s first Easter, got to see a friend get married on a beautiful 80 degree Wisconsin day, and planning our May camping road trip as well as another trip to Universal Studios Orlando. I’ve actually been working on posts for the upcoming months so stay tuned for more book reviews, travel posts, and nursing content. Thanks for sticking with me!

Supporting:

Artery Ink supporting our nurses!

Artery Ink is an awesome local company here in Milwaukee that does anatomical-based art on all sorts of stuff - t-shirts, stickers, headbands, art prints, coloring books, greeting cards, etc. They also create custom designs for units at local hospitals and collaborate with charities regularly. For Nurse’s Week, they are offering a Buy One, Give One option for this design.

From their website:

THE MISSION:
"Uplift the Community" was designed with the mission to uplift YOU. We know in many ways the system is broken, but we want you to know that you are not broken. You are important, valued, and you make a difference in the lives of others every day.

With the option to gift a shirt and include a personal note, we hope these tees will be sent across the globe and bring smiles and joy to each person that opens one. Whether it goes to a manager, a co-worker, a friend in another unit, a teacher, someone you admire, or a family member we know it'll make a difference. Little by little we can uplift each other!

Reading:

This was a recent Book of the Month selection that I was able to read in one week and really liked - will have a review forthcoming! It is a mystery thriller whose main character is the daughter of a serial killer whose murders are being replicated decades later and how she works to solve the mystery of who is committing them. Sorry that isn’t super concise, I don’t want to ruin my book review lol.

Flicker in the Dark is also going to be adapted as a TV miniseries so that is also very exciting!

Watching:

Since it is indeed the first Monday in May today, I have been re-watching this documentary about the creation of the Met Ball in 2015 - all the behind the scenes details from both the Met staff and Vogue. I find it so fascinating and as someone who loves both fashion and museums, I could only dream of attending.

If you would also love to read about the Met Ball, check out this awesome coffee table book that shows both the themes and amazing fashion of past Met Balls.
