Mid-2024 Check In

I am the first to admit I have been very inconsistent with posting - both here, on Instagram, and LTK in general. The last few months have been very busy and I kind of let a lot of things sit on the back burner; it also doesn’t help that despite growing up in Wisconsin, I absolutely HATE winter. There is nothing that makes me more uncomfortable than being cold and wet, which unfortunately is how Wisconsin winters usually go.

I didn’t share when this was happening but in February I transferred to a dermatology clinic closer to home and slightly less hours; this has been a great move for me, as I have a whole day off per week instead of a half day with a 40-50 minute drive each way that I can dedicate to getting things done and my shift ends earlier in the day, so between that and only a 5-7 minute commute, I still have a majority of the evening each night.

Spending 6 months having a commute of close to an hour per day really made me appreciate time; that was 7+ hours per week that I didn’t have to spend with family, friends, or being productive; it was literally time that I had to spend “for” work but that I wasn’t getting paid for. (I was also spending an inordinate amount of money on gas, womp womp.) This gave me plenty of time to think and realize that even taking an hours cut, I would be a lot happier working closer to home.

In all honesty, I knew that job was in no way my “forever” job however I am grateful for the opportunity that position gave me, since I don’t think I would have gotten the job closer to home if I didn’t have dermatology experience and I learned a TON in the 6 months I was working there. To be honest I never thought I would be a clinic nurse and I even tease my old coworkers from the Emergency Department that I’ve “gone soft”. But I am very happy with there I am right now in my career and am grateful to work with an awesome doctor and team.

So, here’s to a fresh second half of 2024 - let’s kick some ass!
