Goodbye, 2024
I was going to start out this post saying “Au Revoir” to the dumpster fire that 2024 ended up being, but then I woke up today to the news of the terror attack in New Orleans. Sending love and healing to all those affected by. this horrific event.
That being said, starting off the new year with this is, I hope, not indicative that this year will be worse than 2024. -_-
There’s a few things I am hopefully changing in 2025 that I have curated into this list:
Starting a daily journaling practice. I purchased the Peacefully Productive Journal from Hustle Sanely and started it today. These are quarterly journals and I picked up one of them, thinking that if I indeed develop a consistent practice then I would order 3 more for the rest of the year.
increasing the amount of reading that I’m doing. My goal for 2025 is to read 38 books (since I will be turning 38 this year). And yes, I believe that audio books count, so I will be including those in my reading list. I’m planning on sharing the books that I really like here on the blog. I’ve got, if I do say so myself, quite the impressive TBR cart so I will be doing a whole post on what I’m planning on reading this year.
Making more of an effort to do some forms of exercise 2-3 days a week and increasing my water intake. Now that I’ve got a job that is more sedentary than previous nursing roles, I spend a lot of time sitting at a computer so making a conscious effort to incorporate more movement into my days, whether that be walks (when the weather is nice) or a quick, gentle yoga flow.
Increase my posting on this blog to 4x a month at least and share more on my LTK account. This is a goal every year and I tend to become very overwhelmed when I fall behind on my self-imposed posting schedule and “give up”, so to speak. I’ve been doing quite a bit of prep work so hopefully I can stick with it this year! I also love showing outfits and things I’ve loving on LTK.
Doing a “slow buy” year. Something I discussed with B is doing more intentional spending and putting more of our purchasing power into our community - shopping local, frequenting the farmer’s market in the summer, and supporting our small businesses. I would love to showcase some of these businesses here on the blog, so stay tuned for that if you are local in the Milwaukee area! I’m also making an effort to shop secondhand in regards to clothing and to simply buy less clothing in general.
What kinds of goals do you have for 2025? What are you leaving behind? Let me know in the comments!
