What I’m Loving - December
Well, I feel like the month of December really flew by. I completed my orientation in the Cath lab and conquered my first shift on my own. Holiday celebrations were once again relatively muted (thanks, COVID wave number…what are we on, 4? 5?) but we got to at least see some of our family in person this year.
So here’s a handful of things I loved last month.
Reading:
I have become obsessed with the author Scarlett St. Clair and she just released the first book in her new series, King of Battle and Blood. This book starts the story of Adrian, king of vampires, and the woman he marries in a peace agreement, Isolde. I only just started this but absolutely love it so far!
Watching:
B and I were scrolling through Netflix and saw this under our suggested movies. It is a sort of dark parody/comedy about scientists who are trying to warn everyone about a comet hurtling towards earth but political leaders go out of their way to discredit them. There is somewhat of a play on our current climate here in the US - both socially and politically. Also I love anything with Jennifer Lawrence in it. Definitely worth the watch and make sure you wait til the end for the bonus scene!
Shopping:
Throughout the year, I have been trying to support local businesses as much as possible. One of my favorite local stores in Milwaukee for gifts, homes goods, and decor is The Waxwing. The owner, Steph, curates a wonderful assortment of goods and highlights products made in Wisconsin. Also, for my purchase on Small Business Saturday, she included this little goody bag. How awesome is that?
Attending:
B and I went with our friends to see the Milwaukee Ballet’s The Nutcracker before Christmas. I went many times as a child and really loved it so we decided to do a triple date complete with dinner afterwards and drinks. Of course the artists that belong to the Milwaukee Ballet did an absolutely amazing job - the performance was wonderful. Masks were required throughout and vaccine cards or negative tests are checked at the door.
I hope you had a happy and healthy holiday season! Share anything you’re loving in the comments!
