Book Review: A Court of Mist and Fury

WARNING: Contains spoilers for A Court of Thorns and Roses

Synopsis from GoodReads:

Feyre survived Amarantha's clutches to return to the Spring Court—but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can't forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin's people.

Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms—and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future—and the future of a world cleaved in two.

This second installment of the series picks up in the Spring Court, where I think all readers were expecting Feyre to start her “happily ever after” but instead, while she is indeed planning a wedding, we as readers also watch her work through the PTSD she has from her experience Under the Mountain. But when Rhysand calls in the bargain he made with her and whisks her away to the Night Court, we get to see that he is not necessarily the villain everyone else has painted him to be. He shows Feyre a different side of the faerie world that is full of promise and hope. She also gets to meet members of his court who take her in not only as a friend, but as family. And Feyre has to choose between what she thought was the comfort and safety she felt in the Spring Court and the wondrous world that is the Night Court.

I don’t want to give too much away, but I promise that by the end of this book, the Suriel will be your favorite character ;)

Also, fair warning, there’s some smut in this one!
