What I'm Loving This Week

 Listening/Reading:

As a self-professed Anglophile, I find the Royal Family fascinating. Not only the people themselves, but the long history of the monarchy in England. I've been following the Harry and Meghan saga since their engagement and was very much looking forward to the release of this book, written by two members of the Royal Press Corps, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand. Omid Scobie is also the host and creator of The Heir Pod, a podcast that covers the Royal Family.

When news of the budding romance between a beloved English prince and an American actress broke, it captured the world’s attention and sparked an international media frenzy. But while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have continued to make headlines—from their engagement, wedding, and birth of their son Archie to their unprecedented decision to step back from their royal lives—few know the true story of Harry and Meghan.

For the very first time, Finding Freedom goes beyond the headlines to reveal unknown details of Harry and Meghan’s life together, dispelling the many rumors and misconceptions that plague the couple on both sides of the pond. As members of the select group of reporters that cover the British Royal Family and their engagements, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand have witnessed the young couple’s lives as few outsiders can.

With unique access and written with the participation of those closest to the couple, Finding Freedom is an honest, up-close, and disarming portrait of a confident, influential, and forward-thinking couple who are unafraid to break with tradition, determined to create a new path away from the spotlight, and dedicated to building a humanitarian legacy that will make a profound difference in the world.

I'm alternating between reading my physical copy of the book and listening to it on Audible during my commute and on my lunch breaks at work. While it is not an account direct from the couple, they were able to interview many people close to Harry and Meghan to get their information and I think they do a great job of filling out the story that we didn't get in all the tabloid headlines.

Watching:

Since European travel is off the table for the foreseeable future, I've been living out my French dreams watching Stephanie Jarvis' YouTube channel about her home, Chateau de Lalande. She has also started sharing more about her local area in France, new restoration projects that they are taking on, and vlogs with her family and friends that stay with her.

I absolutely love her personality and her joie de vivre attitude - plus her home is absolutely gorgeous and somewhere I could only dream of living!

I also follow her Instagram and the chateau Instagram for more inspiration!
