My New Planning System for 2020 - Louis Vuitton Desk Agenda

I previously shared my planner system for the last several years that consisted of a Louis Vuitton MM agenda (personal sized if you're a Filofax/ring-bound aficionado) with inserts from Cloth and Paper. While I love that planner cover and still have it (it's vintage and the vintage LV canvas is just gorgeous) I wanted more room to keep not only my calendar but notes, remodeling ideas, work information, etc. So I decided to dive into the desk agenda world, which usually consists of what people in the planner community call a Franken-planner - I like to call it customized :)

I found my desk agenda on Fashionphile (current LV Desk Agenda* available as of the publishing of this post) for an absolute steal considering it was in excellent condition and vintage, made in 2006. Like I mentioned above, I am a sucker for vintage LV canvas so I jumped on this.

Vintage Louis Vuitton deliciousness.

Desk agendas are basically notebook covers with additional pockets. There is a front and a back flap where you can insert whatever calendar, notebook, etc that you want in. There are also two pockets in the front, one large and one small, and a small pocket inside the back for paperwork or business cards.

The LV desk agenda measures 7.25 inches long by 8.75 inches tall and 0.75 inches wide when empty.

Real life: definitely didn't clean this out beforehand!

I like to keep inspiring quote cards in the front smaller pocket (another way you can tell this is vintage, the old desk agendas have that small cutout in that lower pocket - the new ones are just straight across). In the document pocket I just have some random information printed out from some of my favorite nurse-preneurs (New Thing Nurse, Nurses Inspire Nurses, and The Northwest Nurse).

I use the Cloth and Paper Plastic Insert/Dashboard on the front and back of my paperwork portion for rigidity/stability. The back piece is inserted into the back pocket of the agenda cover. The Plastic Rings and The Magic You're Looking For dashboard are also from Cloth and Paper. The discs I bought from them are 1/2 inch discs

Real life: even got my REI dividend card in there.

The quality of vintage LV is just amazing and I've noticed even between my newer Delightful MM and vintage Speedy 25 there is such a drastic difference in the feel and durability. The stitching and glazing on this desk agenda is impeccable - I'm thinking the previous owner either didn't use it or used it very lightly.

Daily inspiration for my calendar.

Pictures of my boys, always.

Since I started this calendar in March and I wasn't sure which kind of system I wanted to do with, I bought the Hobonichi Style Undated Weekly inserts and made my own monthly calendar using cards from one of my Cloth and Paper Stationary Subscription boxes.

Schedule and to-do lists.

The Hobonichi Style inserts have the week on one page on the left and then on the right, the paper is just a grid page that you can use however you want. I also have some half memo inserts for any running to-do list and a zip pocket from Levenger.

Top tab organization.

There are tons of divider and tab options out there. I opted for these simple clear top tabs with black lettering.

One of my goals for 2020 was to declutter our home - last summer, we had cleaned out part of the basement and found boxes that we never unpacked, from 10 years ago. Yowza. So these inserts from Cloth and Paper are focused on decluttering and organizing all areas of your household.

The back flap has one slot for paperwork and the length-wise slot is where I have the backside of the planner tucked in. I always keep something in that smaller back pocket so that the zip from the clear zipper pocket doesn't cause a dent into the canvas. Usually I shove any paperwork I want to keep back here.

I really lucked out because I got this 2006 agenda for a really good price and it was in excellent condition. As previously stated, I found it on Fashionphile and it was listed as "Excellent" in condition and came with the original dust bag and box. All the glazing is intact and there's no cracking on the canvas or stickiness in the pockets.

What is your favorite or proffered planning system? Let me know in the comments!
