Hello 2020

The end of the last decade brought a lot of feelings. I said goodbye to being a full time student and said hello to being a full-time registered nurse. I brought in the las decade getting married and buying a house, this year B and I are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary. I said goodbye to Riley and hello to Arthur. I left inpatient acute care pediatrics and now work in a level 1 trauma center emergency department. I ran two marathons and an ultramarathon\.

The 2010's brought a lot of drastic change.

My goal for this next decade, as I move through my 30's and into my 40's, is to really take stock of what is important and weed out all the excess and superfluous "noise".

I've started this process by whittling down my bag collection (will do a post on what I kept and why) and my clothing. B and I spent 7 hours putting together 2 iKEA dressers last weekend and I have TWO.WHOLE.DRAWERS of just t-shirts. Do I need them? Nope. How many did I weed out? Maybe 5. I need to do a deep dive and really get rid of what I don't wear. I've been consistently posting a lot of the Oiselle gear I don't wear anymore in B/S/T running groups and making a little money on the side from that. I also have a bunch of things that I bought but never wore from Nordstrom (from within the last 5-6 months) that will be getting returned (thanks to their amazing return policy).

B and I are also making big improvements to our home this year. Our den/computer room will hopefully be done by summer (I mean, this room has been ripped apart for a year and a half, so let's cross our fingers!) and then we are going to do a lot of work to the backyard - I want to put in a veggie garden as well as plant a bunch of wildflowers and maybe put in a water feature? We'll see!

One of my big goals (that I actually jump-started in November) is to live a healthier lifestyle. I started working with a personal trainer twice a week for 30-minute sessions to build up my muscle and stamina again so that once I get back to running in the spring I will be less prone to injury. B and I have been cooking at home more and trying to decrease our food waste by eating healthier. There are tons of opportunities for both of us to improve and I'm excited to see where this journey takes us.

A few more things that will be happening at least in the first 6 months of this year: I'm going to get another tattoo on my right shoulder, we are taking Arthur on a big road trip in May, I'm attending a Healthy Nurse conference in March, and I'm working towards completing my BSN.

This decade is going to be a decade of improvement. Bring it, 2020.
