Ending 2017 With Change
Despite feeling a little overwhelmed and nervous, I took a huge jump in my career last month. I officially accepted a position in the Emergency Department at the hospital/Level 1 Trauma Center I currently work at.
I'm a little scared (but to be honest, as a nurse, I feel like a little bit of fear is healthy because it keeps you on your toes) but also excited to be learning the ins and outs of emergency medicine and working towards my goal of working with Flight for Life.
I'm currently a few weeks into my orientation and wow, the ED is a very different world from inpatient! I am learning so much and I'm very lucky that all of my preceptors are so supportive and eager to teach me.
I'm slowly getting over my fear of placing IVs (and even placed an 18G!) and working on getting my workflow down. Over the next year or so I'll share more of my Emergency Department journey here on the blog.
