50K Eve

Tomorrow morning at 7 am, I will be toeing the line of my very first ultra marathon.

50 K.

31 freaking miles.

Some days I feel like I have lost my damn mind.

This training cycle has been rough. In the 2 months since my marathon, I tried so hard to keep up with my training (and considering everything that was going on in my life, I felt like I did a decent job with the miles I did get in) but I've been dealing with a lot of diminished motivation. Changing work schedules, stress related to my grandpa's end of life care, and trying to get all my ducks in a row for starting my BSN program as well as going to Ireland and Bird Camp really has taken its toll on me.

I felt lucky to have such a fantastic coach to work with who pushed me when it was necessary, supported and cheered me on when I needed it, and was my sounding board even when she was training for the Wasatch 100. (Yes, you read that right - 100 miles!)

So, my phone is loaded with music and podcasts, I've got the anti-chafe and anti-blister roll-ons in my bag. Changes of clothes, extra socks, and LOTS of water and snacks. Also, hoping my Garmin lasts longer than my Apple Watch did during my marathon.

Bring it in, 31 miles. You may bend me, but you won't break me.
