Ever since we brought Arthur home, he has become my de facto running buddy. His cattle dog genes are strong and he could legitimately run all day if I let him. I knew once he started to get in the 30-40 lb weight range that using a traditional collar and leash combo for running with him was not going to work.


Stunt Puppy makes this awesome Stunt Runner leash right here in the midwest (hello, Minnesota neighbors!) and it is my favorite hands-free leash out of all the ones I've tried.

Some of the features:
  • available in multiple colors (I love the ridiculously bright orange as it makes Arthur more visible)
  • the nylon is extremely durable and stitched together, not glued 
  • waist band is adjustable and easy to wear
  • the clasps and buckle are very strong!

I hate carrying anything in my hands when I run as it throws off my balance and stride. Arthur is also quite the puller with a traditional leash. Using the Stunt Runner, running with him is easy and the length of the leash is perfect for both him and I. He is close enough that I don't have to worry about being able to grab him in an emergency but there's enough distance between us that I don't trip over him.


For those of us whose running partners are four-legged, a great running leash is an essential piece of gear.
