Healthy Eating with Luvo
"Disclaimer: I received four frozen gourmet entrees from Luvo as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out BibRave.com to review find and write race reviews!"
As someone who is constantly on the go, eating healthy is just as much a priority as it is a struggle. Since I'm either at class, clinical, or work most days (sometimes until 8 or 9 at night), convenience tends to win more often than not.
Luvo's gourmet frozen entrees offer a balanced meal with a variety of flavors in each one. They come in a microwaveable bag and easily slide out onto your plate looking like something you'd find in a restaurant.
What I love about these meals is the combination of flavors and the fact that they aren't all laden with 7493842 grams of sodium.
Farmer's Market Frittata
This was the first one I tried. I love all breakfast food and this was no exception! Although I should have cooked it for the maximum time on the package (I put the wrong time on the microwave, total user error!) I never would have thought to do the peppers and sweet potatoes, but those gave the dish a great flavor!
Chicken Chili Verde
I took this to work with me and made it for lunch. Everyone who came in after me commented on how amazing it smelled! I enjoyed having the polenta on the side with the veggies, as it really balanced the dish out.
Steel Cut Oatmeal
This oatmeal has five different fruits (cherries, peaches, apples, pineapples, and raisins) and quinoa mixed in. There was also a nice amount of cinnamon, which I LOVE adding to oatmeal. This was absolutely delicious and I would have even eaten it as a dessert!
Orange Mango Chicken
This entree was labeled as "mildly spicy". I'm very skeptical about things that have any sort of spicy rating, since I have a very low tolerance for spicy food. First of all, the orange glaze on the chicken was amazing. Mildly spicy is a perfect descriptor; it had just the right amount of kick. There was rice and kale on the side with some broccoli mixed in, which was also delicious. The extra orange glaze coated the side items just enough to add a little flavor to them without being overwhelmingly orangey tasting. I really enjoyed this one as well!
I appreciate that this company is really putting forth a solid effort to provide good quality and healthy frozen meals. I've tried many other brands of frozen foods and I get really frustrated with rubbery meat and dry, overly processed fruits/veggies. They also strive to use non-GMO ingredients and antibiotic-free meat. I love when food companies take the health of their customers into account when creating frozen meals.
The story of how Luvo was created.
I was also happy to see that Luvo is carried by several stores in my area, so I will definitely be going to pick up some of the other entrees that are available.
Luvo is sponsoring #BibChat on Tuesday, March 1st at 8 pm CST. Come join us, make some new internet runner friends, and talk to Luvo about their products and the importance of healthy eating!
