The Running Survey

I saw this floating around the running blogosphere and from Jen's blog, so I thought I would fill it out! And I've been battling an inspiration block so hopefully this can help me get out if it!

1.) Would you rather run on a beach or a mountain trail?

Beach running hands down! While trails are beautiful, there's nothing like the waves hitting the shore to make a run feel so therapeutic.

2.) If you could choose the flavor of Gatorade at your next race's aid stations, what would it be?

My favorite Gatorade flavor is Glacier Freeze. If I'm remembering correctly, I've only ever seen lemon lime Gatorade at races. At least the ones I've done.

3.) If I gave you a $100 to a running store, what would be the first thing you would purchase with it?

A new pair of shoes! I feel like the perfect shoe is a runner's unicorn!

4.)  Do you prefer to follow a training plan or wake up and decide then how far and how fast you want to run?

I have tried to run by a plan but I feel that I train better when I fly by the seat of my pants.

5.)  Would you rather start your run with the uphill and end on the downhill or start your run with the downhill and end with the uphill?

I would rather end on a downhill. Uphills really challenge me (both physically and mentally) so I prefer to end my run on a good note. Also, then I get that crazy endorphin rush because I always pick up speed on downhills. :)

6.)  When you can’t run, what type of cross-training do you choose to do?

I enjoy doing Les Mills classes at the gym I belong to. Currently I do BodyPump, BodyAttack, and BodyFlow. If you have a gym near you that offers the class, I would strongly encourage you to check them out! They have options for all fitness levels and really, the passion and encouragement of the instructors are what make these classes so great. You can also try the classes for free for a week OnDemand!

7.)  What is your preference— Out and back, point to point or loop runs?

I like out and back runs. Especially races, because I like not having to worry about transportation to the start line,

8.)  If you could recommend ANY running related item to a new runner, it would be a—

Good-fitting pair of shoes. If your shoes don't fit, your feet, knees, hips, and back will all hurt, and running will not be enjoyable for you. Support your local running store and go get fitted by a professional!

9.)  Do you ever see any wild animals while out on your runs?

If you could rabbits, chipmunks, and the occasional opossum, then yes. LOL

10.)  Ever gotten lost while out on a run?

I run in areas that I'm familiar with, so no, I have not.

11.)  If you could have one meal waiting and ready for you each time you got home from a run for the next 30 days… what would that meal be?

The Hoppel Poppel from Blue's Egg. It's literally a pile of breakfast food all mixed together (has browns, eggs, spinach, mushrooms, sausage, bacon, cheese) and then it's covered with Hollandaise sauce.

12.)  Capris or shorts… what do you run in most often?

Shorts, for sure. I used to always do capris but my quads get too hot and uncomfortable. My favorite running shorts are the Oiselle Mac Rogas. (Also available in a longer short as well.)

13.)  At what mile (or how many minutes) into your run does your body start to feel like it is warming up and ready to go?

I would say around minutes 5-7. That is when I really start to get into a rhythm with my breathing and get my stride down.

14.)  What do you do with your key when you run?

I run with an ArmPocket and it was storage space for my house key. Also, my Mac Rogas have a back pocket that I could also utilize to hold my key.

15.) If you could relive any race that you have done in the past, which one what it be?

The Madison Mini 2014. My time was awesome, the weather was perfect, I was challenged throughout the course (in a good way) and I completed the M2 Challenge :) Madison Mini is a race that I would recommend to anyone; it's great!

(if you're interested in running it on August 22nd, you can use code MADISONBIBRAVE for 10% off! Register here!)
