Run Where I Live: Milwaukee!
As many of you know, I'm an amabassador for BibRave. Through the BibRave Pro community, I have met so many runners from different parts of the country (and the world!)
About two weeks ago during our #BibChat (every Tuesday night at 8pm CST!) a bunch of us were discussing our favorite places to run where we live and how we find places to run when we vacation. After some discussion, the Run Where I Live link-up was born! Danielle of LiveRunGrow got a bunch of us together to share our favorite places to run in the cities we live in!

Welcome to Milwaukee!

Not only does Milwaukee have a bunch of awesome restaurants, coffee shops, and breweries, but there are hundreds of miles of gorgeous lakefront and paths for runners to utilize.
A very popular place to run is down by the lakefront. There are paved paths that can take you from the Summerfest grounds, past Discovery World and the Milwaukee Art Museum, around Veterans Park, and north towards Bradford Beach (and you can stop at Colectivo for coffee, some sustenance, and a bathroom break!)
Another feature of Milwaukee (and our expansive parks system) are both the Oak Leaf Trail and the Hank Aaron Trail. Both trails offer a (mostly) paved area for runners, walkers, and cyclists to enjoy nature while traversing Milwaukee County.
My advice? Run along the lakefront. You will get amazing views of both the city and the coastline, have access to facilities (bathrooms and bubblers are always on my running routes if I'm not running in my neighborhood) and you will be able to see historic Milwaukee landmarks!
Friendly reminder to practice safety no matter where you are running!
- let someone know where you are going
- take your phone with you in case you need to call 911
- wear some sort of identification (I use RoadID, you can purchase one here)
- use a locator app that will notify your emergency contact if you stop moving for too long (again, RoadID has one that is awesome!)
- be aware of your surroundings
- run in well-lit, somewhat populated areas
- wear bright colors so that cars and others can see you
- make sure you take any supplies you might need for an extended run (water, gels, snacks, etc.)
- be aware of the weather conditions
Next stop: Oklahoma City!
