Weekend Recap
Happy Monday to all of you lovelies! Hope you had a great last weekend of summer and are prepared for fall to arrive!
All of southeastern WI got hit with some wonky temperatures and some temperamental rain (literally, it would POUR and then be sunny 5 minutes later, so weird) so that made for a perfect weekend of getting homework and some FUN READING (what?!) done.
Since my accident, I was told by the ER doc that I shouldn't run until my follow-up appointment on Sept. 23rd. Which meant missing YET ANOTHER RACE. Saturday morning had PERFECT half marathon racing weather and I was crazy upset to have missed it. Yet another way that this stupid car accident has thrown a wrench into my life. :(
However, we picked up my new car on Friday evening! B found an '06 Jetta that is almost exactly the same size as my Passat but in much better shape cosmetically. Downside is there's no turbo, which my Passat did have. :( But we got a great deal on it, so yay! I was not loving the Jeep Cherokee that I was driving in the interim (felt like a bus!) but it had all sorts of fancy technological features.
To celebrate the acquisition of the new vehicle, B and I got cheese curds. Because Wisconsin.
Every Sunday evening, I participate in #RunChat on Twitter. It's a giant discussion that usually has a specific topic each week or month and it's all about RUNNING! Two weeks ago, RoadID was sponsoring the chat about safety while running and depending on the sponsor, people can win fun stuff! I won this tech shirt and it quite literally made my week, since that particular chat happened the day after my car accident and I was feeling really crappy.
Since Kelly from Belle of the Literati seems to be my literature spirit animal, I saw that she loved the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas and after reading her review, I HAD to go pick up the first book. After finishing it on Sunday afternoon (I mean, the Packers were playing like crap, so I figured I might as well work on the book!) I dove headfirst into the second book, Crown of Midnight. I'm about halfway through it and I love it so far!
This is the look Riley gives me when he does not approve of me spending a ridiculous amount of time with my homework. Do you think instructors would buy the whole "My dog looked at me all cute so I had to play with him instead of study" excuse?
Have a great week!
