What's In My Race Day Bag: Emergency Kit

I have a kit in my race day bag that has anything I could need after a race.

The bag I use to store all of this is an Orla Kiely for Target. This color is no longer available, but they have one in the same style, just a different pattern.

Post-race necessities:

  • Kleenex: I like these slim packs, as they slide easily into pockets and I always seem to need Kleenex at some point. Damn allergies.
  • Band-Aids: for any scraps or cuts. Flexible fabric ones work the best for me.
  • Blister Band-Aids: the one place I always get blisters is on my pinky toes. I keep blister band-aids so I can cover them after a race to keep bacteria out.
  • Neosporin: along the same lines as the band-aids, to keep bacteria away!
  • LA Fresh Oil-Free Face Wipes: after sweating for 13+ miles, just wiping my face off really helps me feel refreshed.
  • Safety pins: more than once have I been in a situation where there were no pins in my race bag for my race bib. I always keep my pins after races so that I have a small stock of them available.
  • Icy Hot: my preferred pain reliever for my calves after a race.
  • Colgate Wisps: another way to help freshen up afterwards, especially if we are heading to brunch (and let's be real, I'm always heading to brunch!)
  • Also kept in this case are a tampon and some hand sanitizer.

For some races, depending on how I'm feeling, I will put some ibuprofen or an allergy pill in just in case it's a particularly sneezy morning or if my knee is acting up.

I have tons of samples of stuff from my Stride Box subscription that I'm going to toss in as well to try out.
