Race Day Eve

Over the past two years of running half marathons, I have come up with a routine (or ritual, whatever floats your boat) for the evening before.

Doing all these things before I go to bed helps me sleep better and feel more prepared for race day.

I always double check that my emergency contact information on my bib is correct. Also, how awesome that I'm such a low number?!

Next is charging my Garmin (I really like to know my time as I'm going) and then making my playlist. I prefer super high bpm music to keep me going. And of course, I made sure that the last 5 songs are my power song ("Roar" by Katy Perry). I have it pretty well timed out, so hopefully I will only hear Roar once or twice.
I always lay out my outfit the night before. The last two years, I have worn my lululemon Inspire II crops but I always feel overheated when the race is over, so this race I'm going to try out wearing my shorts; hopefully I don't feel too cold. It's only supposed to be in the 50s in the morning but it will be sunny. I'm also bringing along my arm warmers just in case. (Oh, and my calf compression sleeves.)

The last thing I do is throw my sunscreens (Coola, of course!) into my race bag along with my sunglasses (I don't wear them when I run, but they're essential for before and after). Also, FRICTION STICK. Aka, LIFESAVER.

My race recap will be posted on Monday, so stay tuned!
