Weekend Shenanigans: I Ran A Half Marathon
This past weekend my brother and I ran the Madison Mini Marathon in Madison, WI. We had an absolute blast (even though there were quite a few hills that I didn't anticipate!) and actually shaved 6 minutes off of our time from the Brewers Mini Marathon last year. The weather was gorgeous and it started to really heat up just as we were finishing.
The Madison Mini's website had a countdown going and it was somewhat nerve-wracking to see that "0" the night before the race.
I didn't wear the shirt that came with my bib packet because it was a little big, but the design was so cool!
B (with his surfing cat shooting eye lasers shirt) made it to this one and was there to meet me at the finish line!
My brother and I showing off our medals (and the free beer, which was not all that delicious...we went to get bloody marys instead).
Finisher's medal that doubles as a bottle opener. Only in Wisconsin, yo.
Official race results. My brother had to stop a few times because he was having issues with the arch of his left foot, otherwise I think our time would have been slightly better, but I'm pretty pleased with our time. Especially considering around mile 10, the race officials put out a yellow flag warning indicating that the humidity was high so the runners should slow down and drink plenty of water.
Next year I am going to participate in the M2 challenge, where you run the Summerfest Rock 'n Sole Half Marathon and the Madison Half Marathon, then you get an additional medal!
I'm linking up with Sami for Weekend Shenanigans!
