Weekend Getaway Packing: My Toiletry Bag

When it comes to packing, even if we are only going away for a day or two, I'm a complete overpacker. I am very much of the "better to be over-prepared than under-prepared" mentality. Example: Last time we went to Phoenix, we only took one suitcase (granted it was B's gigantic one that I can literally fit inside) and 80% of it was my stuff. Kinda ridiculous, I completely acknowledge.

B and I are leaving on Thursday night to head up to our friends' lakehouse for our annual weekend (18 adults and 2 kids this time) and we have one other friend riding with us and although we are taking my Passat, which is bigger than B's GTI, I don't want it packed so tight and high that I can't see out the rear window (yes, this has happened...and there's only usually luggage from the two of us).

I have spent the past few weeks trying to pare down what I will be taking toiletry-wise. It probably seems stupid to spend that much time thinking about what I'm taking, but I'm in the middle of trying to clear up my skin as well as use up a lot of the samples I have (I'm a sample junkie...one of the side effects of being a Birchbox/Sephora addict).

After much narrowing down, here is everything I'm taking (except my LUSH Greased Lightning Spot Treatment...forgot to put it in the picture and I will be using it before we leave so I'm just going to toss it in before we go).

I have a separate little "bedside bag" that will have my contacts/glasses stuff as well as the few products I use right before bed.

For hair:

Macadamia Deep Repair Masque in a 1 ounce travel pack - I will be in lake water all weekend long, so I figured on Sunday morning I would use this as a conditioner.

Davines shampoo and conditioner samples - these are from my June Birchbox and they smell AMAZING. I can't wait to try these out.

Ojon Damage Repair Serum - I've never used this but I figured I would bring it along just in case my ends start to look gross.

Klorane Dry Shampoo - also a travel size that I got in a Birchbox, this is one of my favorite dry shampoos.

Hair ties and a claw clip - because who doesn't need extra hair ties and a claw clip?

For face:

Pacifica Purify Coconut Water Wipes - these smell amazing. Perfect for wiping sunscreen and sweat off my face at the end of the day before face washing (or using if I'm too lazy to wash my face)

Bioderma and cotton ovals - again, for face cleansing.

Fresh Lip Scrub (in that little plastic container) - I got a sample of this at Sephora and when I went back to get the full size, I kept the little plastic container so I could re-use it for instances like this (reduce, reuse, recycle!)

fresh Soy Face Cleanser/Exfoliator - more samples, I think these are from Sephora?

moisturizer samples - I just have too many samples, k guys? I need to use this shiz up, I have several organizer tubs that need to be cleared out.

(Not pictured: LUSH's Greased Lightning Acne Spot Treatment)

For the teeths:

Colgate toothpaste - a necessity, obvs.

Colgate floss and floss picks - I use normal floss but you know how sometimes you get that one little thing stuck in your teeth that only a pick can get out? Yeah, I'm prepared.

Arm and Hammer Spinbrush - for getting those teeths extra clean!

For the body:

Dove Clinical Protection deodorant - I'm a very sweaty person, thus the need for the clinical stregth deodorizer.

Q tips and cotton balls - necessities, even if they may not be used. And nothing is worse than having some earwax in your ear and NOT having a Q tip to get it out.

The Body Shop Shea Butter Body Wash - I got this at Ulta in a little Christmas gift pack...for myself. Love the smell of their Shea Butter anything.

The Body Shop Loofah - also gave in the above mentioned gift set. It's a mini one!

Venus + Olay Razor - I love these. The shave bars make it so you don't even need to use shaving cream! Booyah!

Whish shaving cream - from a Birchbox; I figured I would bring it just in case my skin decides to be stupid and I need some shaving cream.

All of that is packed nicely in that monogrammed makeup bag (from Glitzy Glam) and then here's all my sunscreen products:

Banana Boat Sport SPF 30 in travel size - for B's face
Banana Boat Sport SPF 30 Clear Ultra Mist in travel size - for B's usage
Neutrogena Wet Skin Sunblock Spray SPF 30 - for myself, since my skin is sensitive; this is waterproof/sweatproof for up to 60 minutes
Clinique face cream SPF 50 - I use this on my face because my skin is so sensitive and tempermental

So there is everything I'm taking (besides the LUSH products that are still in my bathroom).
And this is significantly less than what I took last year.

Up next: what I'm taking clothing-wise (that entry will be much shorter, since 1/2 my wardrobe is swimsuits).

Have a great day, everyone!
